Our Property
Its early dawn and you rise in anticipation of your first Trinidadian sunrise. Sipping your coffee while regaling in the breathtaking scenery you suddenly hear off in the distance a loud cacophony of "squawks". Not quite up on your ornithology, you scratch your head and strain to make sense of this blurred fast approaching source, as two sets of brilliant blue and dazzling red wings materialize right before you and with great synchrony and grace, they touch down in the almond tree a few short steps from where your standing. The spectacle last well over 30 mins as the two scarlet macaws assiduously feast, hopping from branch to branch. A pair of Channel-billed toucans fly overhead in search of a different fruit, the fruit of the wild nutmeg tree just off the main path to our nature trail. You soon notice the distinctive sound of two frisky, frolicking green parrots just off to the right. Immediate to the house and along the nature trail leading from the house are elaborately lush gardens of varying local plants and flowers.Mahogany Ridge also serves as a major exporter and grower of exotic tropical plants. Because of this, the general area serves as a mecca for hummingbirds, insanely iridescent with every conceivable combination of colors.
