About Us
Mahogany Ridge B&B is the brainchild of husband and wife team Paul Duval and Beverley Mortensen Clark. Situated high in the mountains of the Nothern Range just west of Maracas Bay and along the North Coast, Mahogany Ridge offers up Trinidad's most spectacular visual experiences ranging from one thousand six hundred foot vistas of the Caribbean sea, La Vache Bay and endless stretches of rainforest to the quiet serenity of remote rural life. The house itself is built on what was originally a 42 acre cocoa plantation back in the late 19th century. Since about 1996 however, the main house has evolved to what it looks like today. The building is composed of locally manufactured reinforced concrete blocks and cathedral, open rafter ceilings. The exterior walls are unpainted and reflect the natural environment.
Nowadays, Mahogany Ridge serves the dual purpose of being one of Trinidad's most exclusive B&B and a successful horticulture-based business, Trinidad Tropicals ~ Growers and Exports of indigenous tropical flowers and foliage.
Humble Beginnings
Bev and Paul
Three Dogs & Two Cats
Foxy, Rambo and Poppy are a big part of what Mahogany Ridge B&B is all about. A place that celebrates nature, animal and human spirit alike, and the ubiquitous flora and fauna encompassing the greater property area. All three dogs are rescue dogs, each with its own sad story. Beatened, abandoned, left to fend on its own, found on the side of the road, in ditches, literally on the throes of death. Unfortunately, this is an all to common theme for dogs in Trinidad. However, the kind kindred spirits of Bev and Paul saved the three dogs and now they live and thrive in and around the property's confines. As far as their personalities go, all three dogs are unintrusively friendly and for the most part keep to their own.
In addition to the dogs, Bev and Paul have recently adopted two cats ~ Ginger Kitty & Jay.
